Pollywog: Symbols of Transformation

Pollywog is the stage in frog life cycle between tadpole and frog where the legs are coming out, the tail is beginning to shrink.
For me the butterfly analogy to coaching never worked well.

When I found this cute little life sized pollywog made of pewter I knew I had found my symbol.

A story:
I stumbled upon a tadpole when I went shopping for cat food and decided to buy it (they had to look up the bar code - There is something seriously wrong with that). I remember collecting them as a kid in the local creek but it had been decades since I'd watched the process of transformation. Well, 6 months went by and nothing happened. I went in and talked to the vets at the store and they said, "Oh, yeah tadpoles won't turn into frogs unless they have to." Hmm. I kept the tank filled with water and gravel and occasionally experimented lowering the water. Nothing happened.

Well, 2.5 YEARS went buy and still nothing happened. I thought I must have a "defective" tadpole. It wasn't until I nearly forgot about the tadpole (I forgot to refill the water AND to feed it) that Lo and Behold it had sprouted two legs.

How many of our clients TALK about wanting to change but don't do anything about it until their environment says they HAVE to change.

AND they change, given the right new environment.
